Weekend Updates

I just wanted to remind everyone that our class is in charge of a Mexican Fiesta Basket for the Fall Festival. All basket items need to be sent to school Monday. If you would rather make a monetary donation, someone from school will shop for you. We're hoping to make enough money at the Fall Festival to purchase more iPads for our school. Thank you for supporting our school!

Fall Festival is next Friday, October 19th.

Have a super fantastic weekend!

Friday, September 28th

Fall Break is here and we are so excited! I have so enjoyed these first 8 weeks of school. We have learned A LOT! I hope that each of you have a fantastic, relaxing Fall Break whether it be at home or away. I think we are all in need of some rest.

Oh Baby! As you all know, I am expecting a new bundle of joy in March. This morning, I shared a profile ultrasound with the students. They were also able to hear the baby's heartbeat that we had recorded. They are all anxious to find out the gender of the baby as am I. I told them I will post this on my website by Monday as we will be finding out tomorrow. If your child is itching to know, please check back on my website in the next few days for the news. I appreciate your prayers and support during this time.

Have a terrific LONG weekend!

Homework Reminders:

Reading logs are due Friday. Students should log a total of 80 minutes this week UNLESS they came to Family Reading Night. In that case, students only have to log 60 minutes. Remind your child to practice their reading strategies and record interesting vocabulary in their Reading Journals.

Spelling and Word Stem tests are Friday. This week's spelling words are irregular plurals.

Practice math facts. Students are on a roll. I am so proud of them. Our class has passed more tests in this past week than they have in a while. Some mastered 3 or 4 facts throughout the day yesterday. Check out the school's website for helpful math sites. www.multiplication.com and www.mathplayground.com are both terrific sites.

*If your child did not return their signed conduct report today, they need to do so tomorrow.
*Students who ordered from our October Book Club should be receiving orders by the end of the week. I received confirmation that the order had been shipped. FINGERS CROSSED!
*The Book Fair will continue throughout the week. If your child would like to buy something, remind them to bring their money. Classroom gift certificates are also available.
*Kindergarten is also selling snow cones through Friday. They are available at recess for $1.

Have a great night!

Tuesday, September 25th

Kudos to all of the 4th graders who participated in The Adventures of Lewis and Clark today. I am so proud of each of them! I thought they did a fantastic job. Not only did we have fun, but we were able to learn some very important American history. Thanks to each of you who came to eat breakfast and/or watch our play. The kids were so excited to see you there!

Don't forget that Family Reading Night is tonight from 5-7 PM! Come enjoy the book fair, refreshments and free books in the cafe provided by the Family Resource Center, and take tests for DOUBLE AR points!

Weekly Assignments:
*Read 20 minutes and log nightly. Practice reading strategies and don't forget to listen to someone read. Be sure to list your interesting vocabulary words in your Reading Journal. Reading logs are due Friday and students are only required to read 80 minutes this week. All students who attend Family Reading only have to read 60 minutes this week.

*Practice math facts! Ms. Ashley has issued a challenge and our class really wants to win an extra recess by being the first class to finish all of our multiplication facts.
